Hey there folks! Welcome to another edition of Update featuring Holly B.!
Holly B. has been with us for almost 5 months now, and it’s hard to imagine life without her! She is the softest, sweetest, sassiest, silliest girl!
To recap, we adopted Holly on February 18, 2019 from California Animal Rescue. She was living with her wonderful foster Mom and 3 cat siblings. Right away she became Princess of the House and she’s a “barrel of monkeys” to boot! 🐒 🐒 🐒
In May, Holly and I began posting on Instagram @mariepascal82 where you can find a lot of her pictures and short videos. (We share the account, so it’s a back and forth of Holly’s cute pictures and my not-so-cute pictures, but I enjoy showing off my vintage clothing collection. 😉 )
Holly isn’t quite an internet sensation, but she’s certainly the Star of our world. She plays hard and sleeps harder. She loves petting, tolerates hugs and kisses and seems mostly content with staying indoors, even in the summertime. I’m hoping this doesn’t change. I would hate for her to become an indoor/outdoor cat. She’s too pretty and there’s too much danger out there. 🧨
Yesterday Holly and I had our first “fight”. It was totally my fault and I am still trying to make it up to her. What happened was I was selfishly using her cat tree to prop the i-pad up so I could take a quick selfie of my new outfit. Holly doesn’t particularly like sharing her cat tree, but she lets me pet her there. She started knocking down the i-pad as I was setting it up, and I VERY gently, but abruptly tapped her on the head and said “NO!”
Well Holly was NOT having it! She swatted at me and jerked backwards with her ears flat on her head, taking a defensive, angry stance that I’d never seen her take before. It was the classic kitty look that says: “Don’t f— with me, man!”
I felt SO bad! I backed away and took the i-pad down from the tree and went to sit on the sun room chair. Not 10 minutes later, Holly was rubbing against my open-toed shoes, as if to tell me she forgave me for my stupidity. I almost feel like I don’t deserve her!
Never again will my selfies take precedence over her personal space. Shame on me!!
I’m still trying to figure out what kind of music Holly likes. It sounds crazy, but I swear that every pet I’ve ever owned had a certain preference in music. It’s probably all in my head, but it’s fun to think about.
Although Holly was named after Buddy Holly (the greatest musician of all time), she seems to like early 60’s Pop the best. It kind of fits in with her happy, girly personality.
Here are a few pictures I took of Holly with the Malt Shop themed cut-outs I got as a gift from the beautiful and talented Carlie Michelle at Bombshell.
These pictures are not photo shopped – that’s an actual paper cut out of a poodle skirt that happens to “fit” her purrfectly! 😀
So Happy 4th to our fellow American friends! 🇺🇸
And to everyone, have a great weekend! Stay cool and safe and keep enjoying those Oldies! 🎶
