Update: It’s Not Over Yet!

Hi folks it’s Retro Dee with another monthly Update!

I entitled this month’s Update “It’s Not Over Yet” and by “It” I mean SUMMER!

No, summer is not over yet. There is still plenty of time for fun in the sun, barbecues, and days at the County Fair. So get out there and enjoy the longer days and warmer nights! (But first, finish reading this Update. 🙂 )

July was a very busy month for Retro Dee’s Guide to the Best Era Ever. I published a total of TEN posts, most of which were about music and contained some kind of “personal” content.

In July, I also revamped the Categories menu again, and while I was not able to limit the number of categories –I still have a total of FIFTEEN!– I was, however, able to make them a little easier to navigate.

For August, I’m going to focus more on Fashion and Beauty topics, but also have the usual monthly features such as “Retro Dee Reviews” and “Fifties Foto Flashback”.

I’m also going to add a Makeup segment to the “Fifties Fashion & Beauty” category. I’m almost as obsessed with makeup as I am with vintage clothing, so a makeup segment of this blog was inevitable. I’ll be giving tips on retro looks as well as weigh in on my opinions of different brands of lipstick, eye makeup and more.

I’ll also be working on a new “Fifties Study Hall” post which I hope to publish this month. No telling on what it will be… I mean, I know what it will be, but you’ll just have to stay tuned! 😀

Finally, what is anything Retro without the music?! This month, I’d like to urge you all to have a look at The Grooveyard web site and give them a Follow.

You can listen to The Grooveyard each Saturday night (7 PM ET, 6 Central and 4PM Pacific) by clicking the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or via the TuneIn app. or the 88.1 FM button on the WCWP app for Android or iPhones.

HOWEVER!! The schedule for some of the upcoming shows is going to be changed due to the sports broadcasting at LIU, so you’ll want to make sure you stay up to date on the changes by following the web site.

The shorter shows (hosted by the amazing D.J. Alan Seltzer) will feature the Top 5 (instead of the usual 10) songs of a certain week in Oldies History. But if you’re following The Grooveyard, you will get the Full Top 10 delivered right to your IN Box. How’s that for modern technology meets retro tradition?! So have a look at the site, or go straight to the Follow Page HERE.

As an addendum, I can honestly say that I’ve never enjoyed a Radio Program more than The Grooveyard. I’ve been listening to the radio since I was 4 years old and I always loved to hear the D.J.s host countdowns. I was listening to The Grooveyard for over a year before I was invited to contribute some of my blog posts to the site.

The variety of songs are great, Alan Seltzer is a blast to listen to and it just completely brightens up my Saturday evenings. I don’t listen to the show via the radio, since I’m 3,000 miles from Long Island, but thanks again to modern technology, I’m able to tune in via the internet!

I want to thank D.J. Alan Seltzer for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the greatest oldies show on the air PLUS I want to thank my blog pal Bob, who introduced me to the show. I found The Grooveyard through the link on his blog which you can check out here at The Past Is Back.

And a very special thanks to all my readers! I am just seven weeks away from the Second Anniversary of Retro Dee’s Guide to the Best Era Ever! So please stay tuned as I approach my second year on WordPress and follow this blog. You can also find me on Twitter @RealRetroDee and Instagram @mariepascal82 .
