Hi folks, it’s Retro Dee and I can’t believe it’s already time for another Monthly Update here at Retro Dee’s Guide to the Best Era Ever!
It’s September and that means it’s Buddy Holly Month. For those of you who don’t know, Buddy Holly was born on September 7, 1936 and in his short life, changed the music industry forever. So this month, all posts will have something to do with Buddy Holly.
I can just hear some of you saying: “So what’s new? 85% of what you post is Buddy Holly-related anyway.”
And to that I simply say, “I know.” 🙂
I also want to mention that Voting for the eighth annual Grooveyard Great 88 has begun! “The Great 88” is a music survey where WE, the listeners, can vote for our favorite oldies. But the Great 88 is not your average music survey, no! There is a preliminary round for each section (for example, the year 1956) and then a FINAL round where you can vote for the Top 88 songs from all the years combined.
The polls will close at the end of the year and in December, D.J. Alan Seltzer will countdown all 88 songs in the order of which we voted for them.
I can’t tell you how much fun I had voting in The Great 88 last year. I had even more fun listening to the results. I love The Great 88 so much, I could write an entire blog entry on it… In fact, I believe I did. 🙂
So go on over to The Grooveyard site and GET VOTING!
You can listen to The Grooveyard each Saturday night (7 PM ET, 6 Central and 4PM Pacific) by clicking the 88.1 FM link on wcwp.org or via the TuneIn app. or the 88.1 FM button on the WCWP app for Android or iPhones.
Also remember to FOLLOW The Grooveyard via email. Following is important because there will be some scheduling changes due to the sports broadcasts happening at L.I.U. this fall.
Well, folks that’s about all for this Update. Have a swell September and stay tuned to Retro Dee’s guide to the Best Era Ever. I am just three weeks away from the Second Anniversary of this blog! So a special thanks to all my readers and supporters.
